If you're unsure about choosing care clothing, ask us
Moving into a care facility. The first summer or winter after moving in. Changes in physical condition or daily life.
Choosing care clothing brings new "I don't know"s at every stage.
At Setagaya Kaigo, you can ask us not only about preparing for a facility move-in, but also about clothing after moving in.
- "What should she wear at the facility in winter?"
- "Should we switch to front-opening clothes?"
- "Since he started using a wheelchair, his usual trousers are hard to put on."
- "I want to keep the fashion she has always loved."
We listen to the person's physical condition and living environment, and think together about clothing that suits them at each stage.
We recommend consulting us on LINE
LINE consultations are available in 日本語 / English / 简体中文 / 繁體中文 / 한국어.
It's fine if your thoughts aren't organized.
Even if you're thinking "I don't even know what to ask," please feel free to contact us.
- You can consult us while looking at photos.
- The conversation is saved, so it's easy to share with other family members.
- When needed, we work with physical and occupational therapists to advise you.
If you just want to ask a quick question, please feel free to do so.
We have received more than 100 care clothing consultations
At Setagaya Kaigo, we take all kinds of questions on LINE: preparing for a facility move-in, choosing clothes for seasonal changes or changes in physical condition after moving in, choosing sizes, clothing for wheelchair users, clothes that are easy to change into, and more.
Since we started LINE consultations, we have received more than 100 consultations. Every consultation is different.
- "What should I prepare for my mother moving into a facility?"
- "She's about 150 cm tall. Should I choose S or M?"
- "He uses a wheelchair but goes to the toilet on his own. What trousers would be good?"
We also receive consultations based on physical condition and care situation, such as "Her arm has contractures and changing clothes is hard" or "He uses a urinary catheter, so we're looking for clothes that are easy to change."
By listening to each of these consultations, we ourselves keep learning about care clothing.
100 consultations mean 100 different bodies and ways of life.
That's why, if looking at the products alone leaves you unsure which to choose, please just ask us. We'll listen and think together about clothing that suits the person.

What can I ask about?
How to choose care clothing depends on the person's physical condition and living environment. Feel free to ask about preparing clothes for a facility move-in, and about clothing after moving in too.
- "It's her first winter there. Does she need thick clothes?"
- "The facility asked us to prepare front-opening clothes."
- "Since he started wearing disposable pants, his usual trousers are hard to put on."
- "Can the clothes she wore when she could walk be used in a wheelchair?"
- "I'm looking for dryer-safe clothes."
- "Changing clothes has become harder than before."
As the seasons and the person's condition change, so do the clothes they can wear comfortably.
If you're unsure about clothing, it's fine if your thoughts aren't organized. Just tell us how things are, as it comes to mind.
Information that helps when you consult us
For example, knowing the following makes it easier to think together about clothing that suits the person.
- Height and weight
- Age
- The size they usually wear
- Whether they use a wheelchair
- Whether they go to the toilet on their own
- Whether they change clothes on their own
- Whether they're planning to move into a facility, already living in one, or living at home
Of course, you don't need to tell us everything from the start.
Just what you know is fine.
Consulting does not mean buying
After hearing from you, we may sometimes say:
"This item may not be the right choice this time."
That happens too.
Helping you choose clothing with peace of mind — that is what we believe Setagaya Kaigo is for.
Examples of consultations we've received
Case 1
Family of a woman in her 80s moving into a care facility
- "I don't know what to prepare."
- We suggested front-opening clothes, dryer-safe clothes and our name label service.
- "We could prepare for the move with peace of mind."
Case 2
Family of a woman in her 90s who uses a wheelchair
- "I don't know which trousers to choose."
- We asked about her physical condition and that she goes to the toilet on her own, and suggested suitable trousers.
- "We could choose with peace of mind."
Case 3
Family of a mother who moved into a facility in spring
- "It's her first winter at the facility, and I don't know what clothes to prepare."
- We asked about the temperature inside the facility, her physical condition, her favorite colors and usual clothes, and suggested preparing little by little while seeing how she does, rather than buying lots of thick clothes from the start.
- "After she moved in, I didn't know where to ask about clothing. I'm so glad I could ask you."

When choosing care clothing, people often worry: "Will these clothes really be all right?"
At Setagaya Kaigo, we listen to the person's physical condition and living environment and to the family's concerns, and think together about clothing that suits each person.
- "I don't know which one to choose."
- "Since she moved into the facility, we've had trouble with clothing."
At times like these, please feel free to ask us. Even after preparing for a facility move-in — when the seasons change, when the person's condition changes, or when you're unsure about clothing at the facility — talk to us anytime.
We'll help so that both the person and the family can feel "this will be all right."
We hope choosing care clothing becomes a time of reassurance. Setagaya Kaigo is always here to listen.
