If you're unsure about pajama size

Customers considering care pajamas often ask us:

  • I'm an M on top, but an L on the bottom.
  • Which size should I go by, top or bottom?

We hear this a lot.

In such cases, we generally recommend choosing the size to fit the bottom half.

Here's why.

Ill-fitting trousers feel much more uncomfortable

With care pajamas, people more often have trouble with the size of the trousers than the top.

For example:

  • Tight around the bottom
  • Catching on the thighs
  • Hard to put on over incontinence products
  • Feeling cramped when sitting

In cases like these, trousers that are too small make daily changing a burden.

That's why we put first that the trousers can be put on without strain.

Pajamas we recommend that are stretchy and comfortable on the lower body

Take special care if incontinence products are used

People who use disposable incontinence pants or absorbent pads need even more room around the bottom.

Even if everyday clothes are fine, with care pajamas only the trousers may feel cramped.

So, especially for people who use incontinence products, we recommend thinking about the size based on the lower body.

Pajamas we recommend that also make pad changes easier

A slightly roomy top is still easy to wear

Care pajamas often come as a top-and-bottom set, so if you choose the size to fit the trousers, the top may feel a little big.

But a top can usually be worn even with some extra room, and it's easy to adjust, for example by tucking the hem into the trousers.

Trousers, on the other hand, can be hard to put on at all if they're too small.

That's why we often suggest sizes that put "trousers that fit properly" ahead of "a top that's a little big".

If you're unsure about size, please feel free to ask us

If you're unsure about the size of care pajamas, we recommend starting by choosing to fit the lower body.

However, the right approach can differ depending on the pajamas' design and the person's physical condition.

  • I'm torn between M and L.
  • We use incontinence products. Will this size be okay?
  • I'd like advice on a size that suits their body shape.

At times like these, please feel free to ask us.

At Setagaya Kaigo, we ask not only about height and weight but also about the person's physical condition and living environment, to help you choose with as much peace of mind as possible.
